Crimson Desert Weapons Guide — All Weapon Types
Updated 2026-06-03
Crimson Desert weapons come in six distinct types, each with unique move sets and upgrade trees. You unlock new weapon types as you progress through the story and find weapon masters in the world. Unlike many RPGs, weapon choice in Crimson Desert fundamentally changes how combat feels — switching from sword to greatsword is like playing a different game.
Weapon type overview
| Weapon | Speed | Damage | Range | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Longsword | Fast | Medium | Medium | All-round beginners |
| Greatsword | Slow | Very High | Short | Tanky builds |
| Dual blades | Very Fast | Low | Short | DPS glass cannons |
| Spear | Medium | High | Long | Crowd control |
| Bow | Slow | Medium | Very Long | Ranged / stealth |
| Shield + sword | Medium | Medium | Medium | Defensive / parry |
Upgrade paths
Each weapon type has three upgrade branches. Longswords split into the balanced 'Knight's Path', the status-effect-focused 'Rune Blade', and the high-crit 'Wind Cutter'. Upgrade materials come from field bosses, dungeon drops, and faction vendors. Maxing a single weapon to level 10 costs roughly 30,000 silver and rare drops from three different field bosses.
Dual blades are the highest DPS option but require perfect stamina management. If you are not comfortable with the combat system yet, stick with the longsword for your first playthrough.
