Crimson Desert Quest Guide — Main and Side Quests

Updated 2026-06-03

Crimson Desert quests are divided into main story quests, companion quests, faction quests, and world events. The quest log tracks all active and completed quests, but it does not mark missable ones. Several quests expire if you progress too far in the main story. Knowing which quests to prioritize saves you from locked content.

Missable quests

  • 'The Lost Patrol' — available only before Chapter 3. Rewards a unique spear.
  • 'Elara's Past' — companion quest, expires after Chapter 4. Unlocks advanced alchemy.
  • 'The Old Road' — world event near Velia. Only appears during daytime in clear weather.
  • 'Dorn's Debt' — companion recruitment quest. Missable if you clear Ash Canyon's main objective.

Quest order recommendation

Follow the main quest until Chapter 2, then pause to do companion quests. Companion abilities make the rest of the game smoother. After companions, grind Free Merchants faction quests for inventory space. Only then continue the main story. The game expects you to do side content between chapters — the level scaling assumes you are three to four levels above the story minimum.

The quest 'Old Friends' in Chapter 4 has a 30-minute real-time timer. If you start it, finish it immediately. Letting it expire fails the quest permanently.
